  In this lesson, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the new Stratified Zone Model (SZM) with stratification in IDA ICE and learn how to apply it effectively in your projects. Introduced with IDA ICE 5, this revolutionary zone model opens up completely new possibilities: you can analyse temperature distributions at different heights and realistically represent thermal stratification within a space – a crucial advantage, especially for atriums, halls, and rooms with high ceilings. Additionally, this new model enables detailed thermal comfort analyses, precise longwave radiation calculations even for complex or non-convex geometries, position-dependent sensor evaluations, and exact view factor calculations.

  These features allow such a high level of detail in indoor climate analysis that an even greater accuracy would only be possible with CFD models. After this training, you will know which zone models are suitable for which applications and how to use the new model to realistically simulate and evaluate thermal comfort, air stratification, and radiation effects in your projects.
