IDA ICE PUD Hands-on session «Daylight»
Abstract

In this interactive session with the developers, we will introduce you to climate-based daylight simulation (CBD), a new feature soon to be released in IDA ICE 5.1.1.

We will begin with an overview of the Radiance three-phase method, the foundation of our whole-year CBD implementation. This introduction will explore the implications of this method for model design in IDA ICE, highlight key differences between daylight and thermal simulation models, and outline essential considerations before running a CBD simulation.

Next, we will guide you through an exercise where you will:

• Customize a building model for CBD and simulate
• Visualize simulation results
• Validate outputs against daylight standards (for example SN EN 17037)
• Learn practical tips and tricks to optimize your workflow

The session will conclude with a Q&A segment, providing an opportunity to engage directly with the development team. Share your feedback, propose ideas for improvements, and get a glimpse of yet to be released features.
