IDA ICE PUD Hands-on session «Stratified Zone Model»
Abstract
EQUA has released a new Stratified Zone Model in IDA ICE 5.0 and 5.1 that allows users to predict vertical distributions of air temperature, vapor and CO2 concentrations, and air flows in a zone. In this session we will introduce and explore this new zone model.
We will begin by presenting the new stratified zone model, its main features, and intended applications. We will also look at:
- Specific features, such as the different types of supply terminals;
- The new dedicated diagrams showing results in each layer, as well as the new 3D results which include the air temperature and velocity, the CO2 distribution, the mean radiant and operative temperatures, the illuminance, and several comfort indices;
- The new capabilities of the zone sensor, which can now also provide position-dependent measurements.
During the hands-on session, you will:
- Follow a step-by-step guide to set up and perform one or more simulations on a test case, using the new IDA ICE stratified zone model;
- Visualize the results and document important conclusions, especially insights gained from comparisons with well-mixed zone simulation results.
- Optionally, if you have run a CFD simulation in the same zones, you can analyze and discuss the similarities and differences.
The session will conclude with an open discussion on the new features, your experiences, and your ideas for future enhancements, including innovative ways to present results.
We look forward to your participation and valuable feedback as we shape the future of IDA ICE together.
