Lesson: Create Own Ventilation Unit (AHU1)
Air handling units (AHUs) can vary widely in design and control, depending on the project requirements. In this lesson, you will learn how to create your own custom AHU in IDA ICE – extending a standard template from the ICE library with additional components and individual control strategies.
Starting from a basic configuration, you will gradually expand the AHU by adding essential components such as rotary heat exchangers, heating and cooling coils, and steam humidifiers. You will also implement appropriate control logic for each element using sensors, setpoint generators, proportional controllers, and signal processing blocks.
The following components will be covered in detail:
• Enthalpy wheel (EnthWheel)
• Cooling coil (CCSIM)
• Steam humidifier (STINJCTR)
• Sensor (STATSENS)
• Proportional controller with setpoint signal (PSMOOTH2)
• Water source (PMT_Source)
• Smoothed min/max logic (MINMAXD)By the end of this training, you will be able to build and adapt complex air handling units in IDA ICE – tailored precisely to your project’s physical and control requirements.
