Daylight and detailed window (+LEED)
Daylight simulations are increasingly in demand as a result of the daylight requirements in the various environmental certification systems, such as LEED, BREEAM and local Nordic certification systems (e.g. Miljöbyggnad and RTS). To respond the demand, EQUA has developed a connection between IDA ICE and the lighting calculation tool RadianceTM, which makes it possible to use the building model to perform advanced daylight calculations, as well as visualize results directly in IDA ICE. In the course, we go through the basics of daylight simulation and how the program can be used to perform daylight calculations for the various environmental certification systems .
Design with regard to visual comfort sets counter-requirements for reasonable thermal comfort and energy use. In the course, we provide an insight into how solar radiation is handled in comfort and energy calculations, and we go through e.g. the zone model, the simple and detailed window model, sun protection, and definition of gtot.
The course will comprise of theory and exercises regarding daylight and the detailed window model.
