The
basic 1-day course gives participants sufficient knowledge to
start using IDA Indoor Climate and Energy (ICE) effectively in
their own work.
The course is primarily aimed at beginners and those who need
to freshen-up their knowledge. Computer exercises are mixed with
short sessions of theory. The exercises allow participants to
work according to their own individual requirements.
Contents include:
IDA Indoor Climate and Energy - background and overview.
The wizard for calculating cooling loads, opening and editing
objects, the database, time schedules, diagrams and reports.
A new Standard Level project with selection of weather data, the
orientation of the building and rooms, wall constructions, windows,
air flows, and internal loads.
Continued lectures and exercises at the Standard Level : Building
shape and shading objects, local window shading, cooling panels,
beams and radiators, operative temperature, output selection,
time slice and reports.
Air handling units, primary system, energy and cost reporting,
cooling and heating power.

The
aim is to teach participants practical engineering application
of IDA Indoor Climate and Energy. It is intended for those who
are already familiar with the software, but expert knowledge is
not necessary.
Contents include:
Practical sizing of the cooling needed to achieve thermal comfort
in an office room. The starting point is a room without cooling,
from which step-wise improvements in the climate are achieved
with solar protection, cooled supply air and finally chilled beams.
The result is analyzed with the aid of the PPD comfort index and
different sizing strategies.
Annual energy calculation for an office building. Review of the
methodology for thermal zoning, internal loads, etc. Result reports
are complied annually and monthly with regard to heat energy,
electrical power for heating, cooling, fans, pumps etc.
Demand-controlled ventilation (carbon dioxide and humidity controlled).
We make simulations of a classroom with carbon dioxide control
and a bathroom with humidity control.
Bulk air movements with several zones, open doors and windows.
Industrial spaces with large external apertures and vertical temperature
gradients.

Following
completion of the advanced course, participants will have sufficient
knowledge to be able to independently use IDA Indoor Climate and
Energy (ICE) at the Advanced Level
. The course is primarily intended for those who have worked with
ICE for some time and who appreciate that there are applications
that extend beyond the range of the Standard Level.
Contents include:
- Overview of IDA Simulation Environment, file
and document structure. Available documentation.
- Overview
of Indoor Climate and Energy NMF library.
- A
component at the advanced level. Generation of advanced level.
Data model and mapping. Forms, outline and dialogs. Continuous
and algorithmic models.
- Continuous
and algorithmic connections. Vector connections. Inspector view.
- Exercise:
Logging variables. Additional output and input files. Over and
under determined problems. Initial values. Given/calculated
variables.
- Other
libraries.
- Model
development cycle. Installing a new model library.
- Install
a library as separate application.
